The annual AHQG Charity Challenge for 2007 asked members to design a quilt to go along with a children’s book.  They were then donated together to the San Antonio Battered Women’s and Children’s Shelter.

First Place in Book Interpretation Quilt in AHQG Charity Challenge 2007 was made by Terri Jungmann.  The book it was made to go with was “The Magic Kite”.  Unfortunately, a family crisis prevented Terri from attending.

Second Place Book Interpretation quilt made by Sherry Little was based on the book “Our Very Best  Valentine’s Day”.

Third Place in Interpretation was a quilt made by Carolyn Serold based on the book “The Terrible Thing That Happened at Our House.

The Favorite Overall quilt was made by Kris Gross and was based on the book “Snuggle Piggy”.

The First Place Novice quilt award went to Linda Kraly for her quilt based on the book “The Snail’s Spell”.

The award for Best Artistic quilt went to Kelli Saffell.  Her quilt was inspired by the book, “Goodnight, Moon”.

An Honorable Mention was given to Karla Henry-Reid (left) and Kay Rosene (not present) for the 40 wonderful quilts they made for the challenge, Karla piecing them and Kay quilting.  Karen Lambdin (right) is the presenter and Charity Chairperson.

Handmade ribbons and gift certificates to various quilt shops were given to the winners.

After the Challenge, members tied about 20 quilts for the Battered Women’s and Children’s shelter.
